So, the big day has finally arrived. You’ve proposed to the person of your dreams, they said yes, and now it’s time to say your vows and then party like there’s no tomorrow. When it comes to your wedding reception, nothing will set the tone for the evening like your music selection. When it comes to music, you can either get a band, or you can hire a wedding DJ. In New Jersey, there are plenty of DJs to choose from to make sure that your event goes smoothly, but how do you know which one is best? Here are four things to consider when picking out your wedding DJ.
Full-Time vs. Part-Time
Since it will be one of, if not the most important day of your life, you want to make sure that everything goes off without a hitch. That’s why we would highly recommend hiring someone who does DJing full-time. Most of us know a friend of a friend who DJs part-time, but a full-time spin doctor will have the expertise and experience to ensure that the music is one thing you won’t have to worry about.
Customized Playlists
Since it’s your special day, you probably want a playlist to reflect the love you share with your soon to be spouse. Wedding DJs should be able to create a custom song list with your input to really help showcase the bond you share with your significant other. Make sure to clear any songs on the playlist with the DJ first to make sure that he or she has them in stock.
Song Requests
Throughout the night, your guests will invariably request all kinds of songs. What is the standard procedure for handling requests? Ask your DJ what he or she does to ensure that there is a good blend of requested songs and your standard wedding mix. Then be sure to let your guests know what the deal is so they won’t be disappointed.
On-site Visit
To help make sure everything goes well, ask if the DJ has performed at the venue before. If not, can he or she come out to do an inspection? You don’t want to find out that there is not enough room or enough power on the day of the wedding.
